Today, I have a confession for you.. I have never read the Harry Potter Books – until now! I have finally caved in and started reading the series. It may come as a bit of shock to you that I haven’t actually read the books, considering I am completely head over heels in love with the Harry Potter movie franchise, and the HP world in general. In my one and only defence, I never used to read as a child, not until I started doing my A Levels. Then I kept on putting it off (even though I had bought the books a while ago), because I knew the story line from the movies.
So I read the first book, ‘Philosophers Stone’ couple of years ago and never finished reading the series. I finally picked up chamber of secret but didn’t really love it… (dont point that accusing finger at me, let me explain). In my opinion, the first and the second movie were very true to the book. The main reason being that, the books were very short. Therefore, when I started reading ‘Prisoner of Azkaban’ I started noticing that there were some details that were missing from the movies.
I’ve just finished reading the ‘Order of the Phoenix’ and it is the longest book I have read, its nearly 800 pages long. Currently, I am reading the ‘Half Blood Prince’ and I have to say, I have completely fallen in love with the Harry Potter world ALL OVER AGAIN! There were so many questions I had and the books have answered them all.
So if you’re like me, hesitant to read the books, after the last book was released just under a decade ago, just DO IT! You will not regret it, even if you love/hate (hate- there are some strange people out there who don’t love HP.. whut? I know). Anyway, read the books! They are a magical masterpiece and ever so realatable to this day. I had not understood the full scope of magic that JK Rowling created but now I completely do.
That is all for today from this Potterhead!
Let me know if you have read the books and which is your favourite and why?
